Residents at Mekong Keilor East enjoyed an unforgettable afternoon of music and nostalgia on 25 July 2026 as the Hoa Ngoc Lan Vietnamese opera troupe returned for another special performance, following their well-received visit to Mekong Cairnlea in June.
In the days leading up to the event, the Lifestyle Team transformed the venue into a traditional performance space, decorating the stage with images of Vietnam and elegant red drapes that captured the atmosphere of a classic theatre. By the time the performance was due to begin, residents and their families had gathered in House A’s ground floor dining room, eagerly awaiting the show.
The troupe delighted the audience with beloved Vietnamese Opera excerpts, including The Drums of Me Linh and The Butterfly Lovers, alongside heartfelt songs celebrating family bond and the love of one’s homeland. Dressed in stunning costumes and accompanied by a live orchestra and professional sound system, the performers brought the rich traditions of Vietnamese musical theatre to life.
The audience responded warmly throughout the afternoon, rewarding every performance with enthusiastic applause. For many residents, the familiar melodies and stories rekindled treasured memories and offered a meaningful connection to their cultural heritage.
