The excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2026 reached Mekong Cairnlea Vietnamese Aged Care on 22 July 2026, as residents enjoyed a fun-filled Winter Sports Day inspired by the world’s biggest sporting event.
To celebrate the occasion, the Lifestyle Team and care staff transformed the morning into an international sporting festival. Residents were dressed in traditional costumes representing countries including Vietnam, Japan, South Korea and India, proudly taking their place as members of different “national teams”.
The event featured a range of sporting games designed to encourage gentle physical activity, participation and plenty of laughter. Music played throughout the morning, creating a lively atmosphere as residents cheered each other on and joined in the celebrations.
Adding to the excitement, staff performed energetic group dances that had residents smiling, clapping and singing along. The performances brought an extra burst of energy to the event and highlighted the strong sense of community shared by residents and staff alike.
