On 27 February 2026, IERA-VIC members, residents from the two Mekong Aged Care facilities, and distinguished guests came together, including Dr Daniel Mulino, MP – Federal Member for Fraser; Mr Trung Luu MLC, Member for Western Metropolitan Region and the religious leaders and representatives from various community organisations and associations for a joyful and heartwarming Lunar New Year and Longevity Celebration at Happy Reception.

The event was filled with vibrant performances by the AVAC group, a beautifully decorated photo area bursting with festive colours, and a calligraphy corner where residents could request auspicious words to welcome the new year and express their hopes for health, happiness, and prosperity.

The Longevity Celebration is a meaningful tradition that IERA proudly upholds each year, as a way of expressing gratitude, respect, and appreciation for our seniors — those who have devoted their lives to their families and the community. This year, IERA-VIC was honoured to celebrate 57 seniors, including 22 turning 80, 20 turning 90, and 15 aged 100 and above.

Mrs Nguyen Thi Lan, 90, a resident at Mekong Aged Care, shared that her secret to longevity is to always stay cheerful and positive — and, in part, thanks to the dedicated and compassionate care provided by the staff.

The celebration concluded in a warm and heartfelt atmosphere. More than just welcoming the new year, the event was an opportunity for us to express gratitude, strengthen connections, and share meaningful moments together. As the Year of the Horse begins, it brings renewed hope, love, and many good things for the year ahead.
